Enchanted Rock State Natural Area Enchanted Rock State Natural Area consists of 1643.5 acres on Big Sandy Creek, north of Fredericksburg, on the border between Gillespie and Llano Counties. It was acquired by warranty deed in 1978 by the Nature Conservancy of Texas, Inc., from the Moss family.
Hill Country State Natural Area Hill Country State Natural Area is located in Bandera and Medina Counties, 45 miles northwest of San Antonio. The 5369.8-acre site was acquired by gift and purchase in 1976 and was opened to the public in 1984.

Bright Leaf State Natural Area Bright Leaf State Natural Area is comprised of 217.27 acres donated to the State in 1995 by Georgia Lucas and is located in Central Austin and Travis County. Bright Leaf is not open to the public at this time; however, those wishing to hike its trails are permitted to do so by appointment. Call the Natural Area and make an appointment to visit.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park Four Spanish frontier missions, part of a colonization system that stretched across the Spanish Southwest in the 17th, 18th, 19th centuries, are preserved here. They include Missions San Jose, San Juan, Espada, and Concepcion. The park, containing many cultural sites along with some natural areas, was established in 1978. The park covers about 819 acres
Inks Lake State Park Inks Lake State Park is 1201 acres of recreational facilities adjacent to Inks Lake on the Colorado River in Burnet County. The park was acquired by deeds from the Lower Colorado River Authority and private owners in 1940 and was opened to the public in 1950. Inks Lake is located in the Highland Lakes chain (7 lakes) surrounded by granite hills. The water level of Inks Lake is usually unaffected by drought and is maintained at a normal level most of the time. During flooding situations, the lake level can rise as the flood waters are passed through Inks Lake to other lakes downstream.

The Capital Area Rural Transportation System TheICapital Area Rural Transportation System, or CARTS, delivers transportation tailored specifically for each of the one-hundred and twenty-three communities it serves. San Marcos Transit (SMT) The San Marcos Transit--the "SMT"--is a fully accessible fixed route service provided by the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) and the City of San Marcos for the community and visitors. SMT uses alternative fuel motorized trolleys and buses for its service.
TxTram Shuttle System The TxTram system is operated for students, faculty and staff, and is designed to alleviate campus parking and traffic congestion. The student fee is paid at registration. The system is in full operation on all scheduled class and final exam dates. No service is provided on weekends or official university holidays. There is limited in town (Apartment) service during the SUMMER MONTHS.
San Marcos Municipal Airport San Marcos Municipal Airport is centrally located near Interstate 35, just three miles from downtown San Marcos, Texas, 25 miles from the State Capitol of Austin and 45 miles from San Antonio. The airport is popular among pilots, with its four asphalt runways, each more than a mile in length and aligned in a way that virtually eliminates crosswind operations.

The Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force The Commemorative Air Force is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, in flying condition, a complete collection of the combat aircraft flown by the Allies during World War II. The Central Texas (Centex) Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is located at the San Marcos Municipal Airport, in the only remaining 1943 vintage wooden hangar on the airport. Visitors are invited to tour the WW II Artifacts Exhibit and the display dedicated to the Doolittle Raiders. The Stokes Memorial Library contains the personal aircraft memorabilia collection of John Stokes, founder of the Centex Wing.
